Food and Service Manager at Öland Folk High School

As the Food and Service Manager, you will have overall responsibility for our cooking, serving, cleaning, and maintenance, and part of the time you will also work as a chef.

You lead with clarity, empathy, and engagement, ensuring that our participants, employees, and conference guests have a high-quality experience in terms of good food and a welcoming and well-maintained school area.

Your responsibilities include budget management, purchasing, and ensuring compliance with applicable food legislation. You will be part of the school's management team along with the principal and vice-principal, and you will work together to develop the overall operations. You will also drive, inspire, and develop the school's sustainability work together with the rest of the school management and our skilled sustainability representatives.

About you

We are looking for someone with documented experience in management and leadership who has the ability to build a robust collaborative culture among your employees and between the various functions of the organization. You are confident and stable in your leadership and know how to create a warm and inclusive work environment where your employees can shine. Since the role spans multiple areas and requires you to step into different types of roles, it is also important that you have a flexible and unpretentious approach.

As part of the job involves working as a chef, it is a requirement that you have relevant education or experience in the field that the employer deems equivalent. You have good knowledge of Swedish food legislation, and we also prefer that you have experience leading teams in cleaning and maintenance. If you have experience working with the implementation of the goals in Agenda 2030 or other experiences in sustainability work, that is an additional plus.

Other requirements for the position

Good knowledge of Swedish, good computer skills, and a B driver's license.

In the education administration area, there are five base units, library development, and the four folk high schools: Gamleby Folk High School, Högalid Folk High School, Vimmerby Folk High School, and Öland Folk High School. The folk high schools offer a wide range of education that contributes to raising the educational level in the county. Library development initiates, leads, and coordinates the county's joint development work in the library area. We are part of the regional development administration that works together on growth and development issues in Kalmar County.
